About Us
As 2009 marks the anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) a concerned group of NC residents met in May 2009 to discuss the non-ratification of Treaty by the United States of this international bill of rights for women. The second topic of discussion was the Commission on the Status of Women in the United Nations and the facilitating the participation of college students in the upcoming CSW meetings in 2010.

As a result, Women NC was formed to seek CEDAW ratification, to educate and inform North Carolinians on women related International issues and to empower women in becoming more active in societal issues which directly impact their health, welfare, and quality of life.

Women NC is a non profit organization originating from the United Nations Commission on Status of Women (CSW) and the United Nations International Treaty CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women).

Women NC is committed to empowering women in North Carolina by engaging them with CSW and CEDAW related activities.

Women NC is facilitating the participation of college students in CSW’s annual meetings and helping the ratification of CEDAW by the United States.

Women NC acknowledge that there is a great need in NC for participation of women in international tasks because of the multiculturalism in NC, globalizations, and the revolution in international communication system.

Women NC will connect to the women around the globe to learn from and share our experiences to make the world and North Carolina a better place to live.
