Student Partners Program

Founded in 2024 by Danie Watson-Goetz, the Student Partners Program, focuses on engaging students in gender equality work through the lens of nonprofit programming. The Student Partners Program brings WomenNC and our work into the classroom as a mentor, preceptor, or community partner. Through these partnerships, students gain insight into the workings of a nonprofit organization, tackling projects in programming, marketing, technology, and research. WomenNC is proud to collaborate with high schools, colleges and universities, clubs, and other nonprofits to engage in this work.

Youth Ambassadors of Service Interns

WomenNC has started a fruitful partnerships with Youth Ambassadors of Service, or YAS, a nonprofit that mobilizes high school students by teaching them how to execute community service projects and connecting them to nonprofits through internships, and serves as an advocate for the nonprofit sector to promote the welfare of the citizens of the State of North Carolina. In 2024, WomenNC was paired with three interns who worked on social media, grant research, marketing, fundraising, and administrative tasks.

UNC Public Policy Reports

Small teams of students work with WNC to produce actionable public policy research that focuses on gender issues of concern in and to specific geographic locations in the state. Meeting with WNC’s Board and staff student teams  develop a work plan, research relevant policy issues, collect relevant data, identify and analyze policy options, and produce reports that includes specific recommendations for action. In these projects, students develop skills in team work, leadership, communication, professional etiquette, and time management. WNC has benefited from their work and invites you to explore their work in Greensboro and Guilford County , Pittsboro and Chatham County, the impact of COVID-19 on childcare, maternal well-being, and labor force participation in Mecklenburg county, and more.
