WomenNC Delegates at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70)

  • Priority theme: Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers

This March, WomenNC Scholars took the global stage at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), engaging in daily sessions on issues like gender-based violence, economic inequality, and global conflict.

Through networking, learning, and presenting original research during our Youth Voices for Global Justice panel, Scholars connected North Carolina perspectives to global conversations—amplifying youth voices where decisions are made.

They returned home empowered, informed, and ready to lead.

This year, WomenNC hosted two official events at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, bringing together global and local voices to advance justice and youth leadership.

Students presented their research during Youth Voices for Global Justice, engaging with advocates from the U.S., Iran, and Ukraine. During Justice for Women: From Resistance to Action, Beth Dehghan contributed to a global conversation on advancing women’s rights.

These events reflect WomenNC’s ongoing commitment to elevating youth voices and connecting North Carolina leaders to global movements for gender equity.

Check out both events below.
