Learn about one of WNC's Community Partners: Soroptimist Raleigh

Established in 1987, Soroptimist International of Raleigh (SI Raleigh) is a local club of Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.  

Soroptimists believe providing women and girls with access to education is the most effective path to self-determination, and their Dream programs support this vision.

The Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women program assists women who provide the primary financial support for their families. Live Your Dream Award recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation. Nearly all of the women and families we serve have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, teen pregnancy, and drug or alcohol addiction. Since 1989, SI Raleigh has granted over $93,000 to women in our local communities.

The Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls program gives girls the tools they need to achieve their education and career goals, empowering them to break cycles of poverty, violence, and abuse. This year, SI Raleigh has launched this program with the 7th and 8th grade girls at Mt. Vernon Middle School.
